Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Linux System Administrator to support and maintain our infrastructure, ensuring system availability, performance, and security across our Linux-based environments. You will work closely with operations, DevOps, and support teams to deliver stable and scalable systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers and associated services (e.g., networking, storage, monitoring).
- Perform routine system tasks: patching, upgrades, backups, and n + 1 redundancy planning.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, respond to alerts and incidents.
- Ensure system security: user access, hardening, intrusion detection, firewall/routing configuration.
- Maintain documentation of configuration, process flows, and incident resolution.
- Collaborate with DevOps/automation teams to implement IaC, scripting, and CI/CD deployment of infrastructure.
- Participate in on-call rotations for critical system coverage and recovery events.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 3-5+ years of experience administering Linux servers in production environments.
- Strong command of Linux OS internals, file systems (ext4, XFS), process scheduling, memory/cache behaviour.
- Proficiency with shell scripting (Bash, Perl, Python) and automation frameworks.
- Experience with system monitoring tools (Prometheus, Nagios, Grafana) and logging stacks (ELK, Fluentd).
- Knowledge of virtualization/containerization (KVM, VMware, Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud environments.
- Experience with network services: DNS, DHCP, NFS, Samba, mail, HTTP proxies.
Preferred Skills
- Certifications such as RHCSA, RHCE, LFCS or equivalent.
- Experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid architectures.
- Hands-on with automation/configuration tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Terraform).
- Familiarity with database administration (PostgreSQL, MySQL) or middleware in a Linux stack.
