Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Windows Engineer to lead the administration, optimisation and support of our Windows-based infrastructure. This role will drive stability, performance and security of enterprise Windows servers and associated services, working closely with operations, infrastructure & security teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the installation, configuration and maintenance of Windows Server environments (physical & virtual).
- Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, file/print services, DNS/DHCP and related Windows infrastructure.
- Monitor server performance, conduct capacity planning, and apply optimisations to maintain high availability.
- Implement and manage backup/restore, high-availability/clustering, disaster-recovery processes for Windows systems.
- Coordinate patching, updates, and security hardening on Windows platforms in collaboration with security teams.
- Troubleshoot complex Windows-server issues (event logs, performance bottlenecks, service failures) and perform root-cause analysis.
- Drive automation of Windows-infrastructure tasks using PowerShell, scripting and configuration tools.
- Collaborate with cloud, hybrid, and on-prem teams to integrate Windows services with Azure/AWS and modern infrastructure models.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT or related discipline.
- 6-8+ years of hands-on experience supporting enterprise Windows server environments.
- Strong expertise with Windows Server (2012, 2016, 2019, 2022), Hyper-V or VMware virtualization.
- Proficient with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, file services, clustering/HCI on Windows.
- Experience with automation and scripting (PowerShell, Bash/Python for cross-platform tasks).
- Familiarity with hybrid cloud (Azure/AWS) Windows services, VDI or Windows Virtual Desktop a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
Preferred / Additional Skills
- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, Azure Administrator, VMware VCP, etc.
- Experience with enterprise security controls (patch management, endpoint protection, IAM integration) and compliance frameworks.
- Knowledge of monitoring/logging stacks (SCCM, SCOM, Azure Monitor) for Windows servers.
- Exposure to infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible) in Windows/hybrid setups.
